Industrial
Maintaining good Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in industrial settings is essential to protecting the health, safety, and performance of workers operating in high-demand environments. Particularly in spaces involving chemical processes, combustion, or frequent interactions with vehicles, airborne pollutants can become a serious health risk. Whether it's a warehouse, manufacturing plant, or a distribution centre, you want to ensure your air quality is safe at all times to keep your staff happy and healthy.
Dust, fumes, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and elevated CO₂ levels are common in industrial environments, especially where heavy machinery, chemicals, or packaging materials are involved. Without adequate monitoring and ventilation, these pollutants can accumulate quickly, increasing the risk of respiratory issues, fatigue, and health-related absences among staff. Clean, well-circulated air is not only a compliance requirement, but a critical component of operational efficiency and workplace morale.

Industrial Sector
Being certain that the air in industrial spaces is clean is a common concern. You may have existing HVAC and filters installed, but how do you know they work as well as they did when they were freshly installed? With staff's health on the line, we need to be confident that any air quality measures are sufficient in circulating clean air and removing harmful pollutants.
From air quality testing to ventilation validation and ductwork cleaning, we have the knowledge to keep your building safe and compliant. We are effective at diagnosing air quality-related issues through a range of available testing methods and we have the knowledge to identify, install, or maintain air handling units, filters, ductwork, and air quality sensors.
At ARM Environments, we understand that ventilation isn't going to solve every problem. To meet compliance, many people rely on a quick-fix, like installing a new filter or an extra ventilation intake, instead of digging deeper to understand the root causes of poor air quality. Our expert team are capable of identifying sources of pollutants and can provide bespoke solutions best-suited to each specific industrial space. If you’re concerned about the impact of air quality on your workforce or operations, get in touch or explore our range of services to find out how we can help you create a safer, more productive industrial environment.

Aston Martin Racing Team takes IAQ pole position with ARM Environments

Objectives
We were contacted in 2022 to support the development of a new state-of-the-art 15,000m² HQ for Aston Martin's racing team. This space would occupy two floors and encompass varied spaces enabling all aspects of Formula 1's elite car design, cutting-edge R&D, top-of-the-line manufacturing equipment, efficient assembly, and high-tech testing. The team specified that low levels of particulate matter (PM), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and odours would be required to maintain a safe, healthy, and productive workspace.
Solutions
To meet these specifications, we used some of the latest and greatest electronic air cleaning solutions. We utilised fan coil bipolar ionisers unique to ARM to effectively reduce the levels of total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) and PMs. We also installed UVC filters into the air handling units (AHUs) which keep the heating and cooling coils clean and eliminate organic matter like bacteria which are caught in the filter. This UVGI air purifier technology keeps the internal components clean, resulting in lowered maintenance costs in the long-term.
Results
ARM were effective in collaborating with the client to deliver outstanding air quality in their new HQ. We successfully met their key design specification criteria with our industry-leading, future-proofed air purification methods. Furthermore, by installing UVGI systems, the company will be saving money in the long term, due to less frequent maintenance visits, whilst also enjoying fresh, sterile air.

Commercial Offices FAQs
What are the most common indoor air quality issues in industrial environments? ↓
How can I tell if my current HVAC and filtration systems are still effective? ↓
Over time, dust can build up inside air ducts and filters can get clogged. This inevitably sees air flow reduced and the effectiveness of your systems affected. We conduct thorough air quality assessments and ventilation tests to investigate the effectiveness of air quality systems, and we also work to clean/replace filters and ducts to ensure safety and compliance is met.
The easiest way to assess your HVAC effectiveness over long periods of time is to use air quality monitors and record the results periodically. If that's not an option, view our services to see how we can help.
What services does ARM Environments provide for industrial air quality? ↓
We offer IAQ testing, ventilation validation, ductwork cleaning, sensor installation, and provide full reports for any work carried out. Our goal is to ensure your environment remains compliant, healthy, and efficient.

Can you help us meet compliance with HSE, COSHH, or other regulations? ↓
Absolutely. Our experts understand UK industrial air quality standards and can help you stay compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance, COSHH regulations, and sector-specific air hygiene requirements.
Do we need a full HVAC upgrade to improve air quality in our industrial facility? ↓
Not necessarily. We can assess your existing systems and recommend cost-effective improvements such as targeted filtration, UV-C upgrades, or air quality monitors. If the budget allows for it, retrofitting the HVAC systems can future-proof the space and ensure maximum effectiveness at cleaning the air, but we understand that this isn't always possible and can offer alternative solutions as well.
