Who we are

ARM Environments was established in 2018 as the answer to a fragmented industry. For too long, the market was saturated with niche providers offering only "half-measures" leaving building managers to piece together their own solutions through an assortment of testers, designers, contractors, and other key personnel from different places.

We saw the gap and filled it with a smarter, holistic alternatives that truly benefit our clients in the long term. Built on decades of deep-technical expertise, we walk our clients through the full indoor air quality journey, engineering healthier, higher-performing indoor ecosystems that genuinely support health and wellbeing.

What is the ARM framework?

Assess, Remediate, Maintain is the comprehensive model behind our company name and the foundation for how we operate. These three stages form a holistic framework for achieving cleaner, healthier air and sustaining it long term. Improving your air quality is not a one-off achievement, nor a quick fix, though too often we see people make an easy change to their ventilation practices and then forget about air quality entirely. That's what we set out to change.

To achieve high air quality, we believe in an an ongoing commitment that requires regular assessment, informed remediation, and consistent maintenance to ensure environments remain healthy, compliant, and performing at their best. Our ARM approach ensures the full picture is understood and treated properly. By working through all three stages with our clients, we deliver greater efficiency, stronger compliance, improved wellbeing, and results that truly last.

Assess

The first step in understanding your air quality. We perform tests, install air quality monitors, and conduct surveys to confirm whether your building is up to standard.

Remediate

We offer tailored solutions to enhance your air quality and improve efficiency. Our services can reduce energy costs, increase HVAC system lifespan, and lower costs. Remediation services include AHU refurbishment, replacement, or upgrades.

Maintain

Regular maintenance is key to improving efficiency and staying compliant. For our maintenance services, including ductwork cleaning and tailored filter replacements, we use cutting-edge technologies to increase efficiency.

How do you test indoor air quality at home?

Many people ask 'Can I test my air quality?' or 'Do I really need a professional air testing service?' and the answer depends on your situation. The cheapest option involves a simple air quality sensor, though these are famously inaccurate compared to professional IAQ sensors. This works for the individual who is curious about their air quality or would like to stay informed in real-time, though they aren't great for making informed decisions due to cheaper models being somewhat unreliable and inaccurate. Whilst they are likely to show issues like raised CO2 or high TVOC levels, the numbers are most often incorrect and tricky IAQ issues like detecting mould or a specific VOC are not possible with these cheap kits.

Alternatively, you could purchase an indoor air quality testing kit, however these are not always completely accurate due to how/where they're installed and how the space is used during the testing period. The truth is, to gather reliable IAQ data, you're better off contacting a professional who can conduct the IAQ survey for you.

Should organisations use indoor air quality test kits or professional testing services?

While indoor air quality test kits and portable indoor air quality testers can provide indicative data, they are rarely sufficient for formal assessments. Most organisations choose independent air testing companies offering accredited indoor air quality testing to ensure results are accurate, traceable, and suitable for audits or regulatory reporting.

Our clients benefits from detailed and downloadable reports with every service with ARM Environments, ensuring they're kept in the loop and understand exactly how they can improve or maintain their indoor air quality.

How do I know if I need an IAQ service or IAQ test?

If you are considering any kind of IAQ service, chances are you already know there's an issue with your indoor air quality. Whether it's mould, carbon dioxide pollution, or just a strange noise coming from your HVAC system, it's better to be safe than sorry when we're talking about air hygiene.

Thankfully, not all services have to cost an ARM and a leg. We have an array of IAQ testing equipment, such as precise sensors and industry-favourite sampling tubes, which we can deploy quickly, quietly, and unobtrusively to most areas of England and Wales. With a detailed report in hand, and expert advice from our team, you can then decide the next steps towards fixing your indoor air quality or HVAC system.

How does ARM Environments help with building compliance?

We ensure your facility meets the latest UK health and safety standards, including BS 40102-1, BESA guidelines (TR19, BESA VH001, DW 145), The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Workplace Exposure Limits (WEL) EH40/2005, and COSHH 2002.

Our services cover critical statutory requirements as well as best practice services such as:

  • Fire Damper Testing: Ensuring safety systems function correctly during an emergency.

  • Kitchen Grease Cleaning: Reducing fire risks in commercial extraction systems.

  • Ductwork Hygiene: Validating that ventilation systems aren't harbouring microbial contaminants.

We also offer a range of air quality tests to ensure your space is hygienic and safe, including:

  • Indoor Air Quality Testing: Sensors, sampling tubes, or swabs are used to measure quantities of microbes (like mould, bacteria, or viruses), gas concentrations, or detect specific pollutants. This is a broad and versatile set of tests all that get delivered to you in one neat PDF report, so you can prove you are compliant with a variety of different laws, guidelines, or best practices.
  • BREEAM, WELL, Fitwel Testing: For companies looking to improve their business value, enhance employee wellbeing, or reach sustainability goals, these certifications are a great way to level up and improve the workplace.
  • WEL Testing: All UK businesses must protect their employees from workplace harm. This includes air pollution. Our WEL Testing service can prove that your space is healthy and legal to work in.

On top of that, we also offer a range of remediation and maintenance services essential to keeping your space well-ventilated and safe, such as:

  • Air Handling Unit (AHU) Servicing: Ensure your AHU and HVAC systems are running how they should. Replace or upgrade outdated, broken, or inefficient components to enhance your energy usage and system longevity.
  • Fire Damper Testing: Be confident in your building's fire safety. We ensure fire dampers operate as expected, should a fire occur in your building.
  • Filter Replacements: It's easy to forget about your filters, but they're key to keeping a space safe and compliant. They're quick to change and last months, but spaces can quickly become polluted and potentially harmful once filters become blocked.
